My name is Melenda T. Smith, I was born and raised here in Malone, Florida.  My parents are Norman and Lula Torres.  I've been Ordained an Itenirent Elder in the A.M.E. Church was called to preach at age 19.  I'm the Pastor of Salem A.M.E. Church in Graceville, Florida.  Kermit Smith Jr., son of Rev. Kathlean Smith and the Late K.W. Smith Sr. is my husband.  We have 4 children Lenoris 24, Jaymison 19, Angelica 15, and Dwannie 12 yrs. old.  My employment with Jackson County School system began in 1998 as a cafeteria employee.  Since that time, I've received both my AA and BS degree in Education while working full time, pastoring a church and raising my children allowing me to work my way up from the lunchroom to a classroom.  I was recognized as the Rookie Teacher of the Year in 2008 and received the Educator of the Year Award in 2009 by the NAACP of Jackson County.  I truly love children and desire to see them succeed and become mighty men and women "GOD".

Favorite verse of Scripture: And we know, all things work together for the good to those who love God, and are called according to his purpose.  (Romans 8:28)
